Getting there should not be the hard part
You have a physio appointment at 10am. Or a social group on Thursday afternoons. Or you just want to go to the shops without having to rely on family every time. Transport sounds simple until it is the thing standing between you and everything else you want to do.
At Acme, our transport service is built around reliability. That means showing up on time, knowing how to handle wheelchair transfers, being patient with participants who need extra time, and not cancelling at the last minute. Our transport workers are trained support workers, not taxi drivers. They stay with you, help you in and out of the vehicle, and assist with whatever you need at the other end.
We also run travel training for participants who want to learn to use public transport independently. It takes time, but the payoff is real. Being able to catch a bus on your own changes everything about how you move through the world.
What we offer
Door to door accompanied transport
A support worker picks you up, helps you into the vehicle, stays with you during the trip, and makes sure you arrive safely. We cover medical appointments, therapy sessions, social activities, education, employment, shopping, day programs, family visits. Basically anywhere you need to go.
Public transport training
For participants who want to build independence. A worker accompanies you on buses, trains, and ferries. They teach you how to read timetables, use go cards, navigate stations and interchanges, manage busy or unfamiliar environments, and problem solve when things go wrong. Over time, they step back as your confidence grows.
Travel training is a capacity building service that progressively reduces your reliance on accompanied transport, giving you the freedom to travel independently.
Community access transport
Getting you to social events, sports, parks, shopping centres, community groups, cultural events, and outings with friends. Our workers do not just drop you off. They come with you and make sure you have a good time.
Wheelchair accessible transport
Wheelchair loading and securing, transfers using hoists and equipment, mobility aid management during travel, accessible vehicle options. Our workers are trained in all of it. Safe, comfortable, dignified travel regardless of your mobility needs.
How transport funding works
NDIS transport is funded under Core Supports, Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation (Transport). Your plan may have a dedicated transport budget. If it is not enough, we can help you build evidence for a plan review. We also help you figure out how to use your transport budget most effectively across different NDIS support categories.
How to book
Call 07 3063 3362 or email us with the date, time, pick up address, destination, and any accessibility requirements. For regular transport (like weekly therapy appointments), we set up an ongoing schedule. For one off trips, we accommodate bookings with as much notice as possible, though we can often assist with short notice requests too.
